Sewing Classes

Our Sewing Courses are perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about sewing, whether they have years of experience or have never touched a sewing machine before.

We host kids’ classes as well, for kids ages 8 to 12 years old, using a similar curriculum to our adult classes.

Our Response to COVID-19

To help reduce the spread of Covid-19, and to ensure the safety of our students, each student has their own work station equipped with their own sewing machine and sanitizing equipment. We also require our students to sanitize their stations after every class, so new students coming in after them can start at a fresh station.

At Azaleah’s, we offer multiple levels of sewing courses. We require all of our students to take our 101 Course before advancing to our 102 and 103 Course, as higher level courses require information covered in previous courses.

Our courses are held every three weeks, with each course consisting of three classes held on consecutive Saturdays. Each class is three hours long and start at 9a.m., 12p.m., or 3p.m.*

*All introductory classes are held at 9a.m. Classes may be postponed due to inclement weather and may vary depending on monthly schedules. Please contact us for more information about scheduling.

  • Our 101 Course is built to teach beginners and experts alike skills and practices put into use across a multitude of projects. This course helps familiarize students with sewing machines and all of their parts and functions, as well as a range of core techniques and habits that make sewing easier and fun. The final project the 101 students make is a handmade tote bag, complete with fabric of the students’ choice*.

*Fabric for the students’ tote bag can be brought in from outside or bought in-store at a discounted price for students.

  •  The 102 Course focuses on the practice and application of skills learned in 101 to create more handmade projects, as shown below. In 102 and onward, students are expected to bring their own caddy, equipped with the tools and materials required to complete future projects, all of which are available to students in-store at a discounted price.

  •  In the 103 Course, students learn how take measurements of subjects, and make a pattern for and create a handmade dress.

If students choose to take and graduate all three courses, they are invited to attend a graduation party where we hold a graduation dinner and students receive a Certificate of Completion.*

*Graduation parties may not be held after every 103 Course for several reasons; any postponed graduations will be held on a later date.

Finally, the price!

Every three-week course, including kids’ courses, is $325. The deadline for payments is one week prior to the start date of each course. Please keep in mind that courses can fill up quickly and we reserve openings for students that have paid in advance, so consider reserving your spot sooner than later!

While enrolled, all students receive a 10% discount on all sewing materials and supplies sold in-store. In addition to your class time, students have access to our Sewing Academy to practice on our sewing machines during the week or to ask questions about the class or project.*

*This additional access to our academy’s facilities must be coordinated ahead of time with your instructor.
